22 kg of plastic! The culprit for the death of a sperm whale
The World Wildlife Fund sounded the alarm about plastic pollution in the Mediterranean on Monday after finding 22 kilograms of plastic waste in the body of an 8-meter-long female sperm whale that had died trying to avoid plastic.
< /strong> The sperm whale was found stranded near the Italian island of Sardinia last week. In its stomach, anatomists found electrical bellows, garbage bags, shopping bags, fishing line and packaging for cleaning products, among other things, according to the organization. The World Wildlife Fund has warned that plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to Marine animals, with at least half a dozen whales killed worldwide in the past two years because they did not eat plastic waste.
