Affected by this news, Guofeng Plastic Industry (000859) a daily limit, the stock price and trading volume hit a new high. Prince new material impact limit, up more than 7.44%, Zhejiang Zhongcheng (002522) also once rose nearly 6%. At present, nearly 40 countries and regions in the world, including the United Kingdom and Canada, have issued plastic banknotes. Among them, seven countries have replaced all paper currency with plastic banknotes: Australia, Bermuda, Brunei, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Romania and Vietnam.

China issued a commemorative 100-yuan plastic banknote in 2000 to welcome the New Century. The central bank has previously said that China is ready and has the technical basis for issuing plastic banknotes. But a specific timetable has not been set.

The plastic banknote was developed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Australia, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation of Australia and the University of Melbourne and was first used in Australia in 1988. The plastic note is a polymer banknote, which is superior to the paper note in terms of material. First of all, it is strong and lasts four times longer than paper money. Secondly, it also has no fiber, no capillary, no moisture absorption, small deformation, high temperature resistance and other characteristics, no odor, not easy to contaminate bacteria, non-adhesion, easy to recycle. Therefore, plastic banknotes are conducive to the use of automatic teller machines, and can reduce the amount of new money, reduce the cost of recycling old notes, and have good comprehensive economic benefits. Because it can be recycled, it is also known as "green banknotes". At the same time, in terms of security measures, plastic banknotes are more difficult to forge and copy than paper banknotes. From the appearance, an obvious feature that distinguishes plastic banknotes from paper banknotes is the transparent window on their faces. Each plastic banknote generally has 1 to 2 transparent Windows, up to 4, built-in a variety of anti-counterfeiting devices, can prevent copying. The Australian research institute has used the transparent window as an optical lens to reveal security features on the bill that would otherwise require special tools to be seen, greatly improving the public's ability to distinguish between real and fake bills. Based on similar technology, the transparent part of a Canadian plastic bill is printed with a complex holographic pattern that can be seen on both sides of the bill.

Some relevant agencies predict that plastic instead of paper to become the base material of banknotes is the trend of The Times, and the market space of plastic substrate is as high as 20 billion. However, plastic banknotes also have their shortcomings. According to Australian media previously reported that the manufacturing cost of plastic banknotes is twice that of paper money, at the same time, the introduction of plastic banknotes requires the corresponding hardware and software systems in the banking system to update and replace, such as a large number of cash machines, banknotes, etc., which is not a small expense for banks. In addition, plastic notes are also easy to melt, and there have been many cases of plastic notes melting in the United Kingdom.
