Chongqing focuses on eight industrial chains of new chemical materials: polyamide, polyurethane, degradable plastics, etc

On August 3, the Chongqing government website released the "14th Five-Year Plan for High-quality Development of Chongqing Manufacturing Industry (2021& 2025)". Chongqing will cultivate and build trillion-level electronic information, 500-billion-level automobiles, 300-billion-level equipment, 600-billion-level materials, 500-billion-level specialty consumer goods, 100-billion-level biomedicine and other industrial clusters.

"Plan" proposed that Chongqing will build an internationally competitive polyamide material, polyurethane material industry base. In terms of new chemical materials, eight industrial chains such as polyurethane, polyamide, polymethyl methacrylate, polyester, polyolefin, polycarbonate, polyformaldehyde and degradable plastics will be built.

Play the local MDI (diphenylmethane diisocyanate), AA (adipic acid) production capacity advantages, strengthen the planning and construction of epoxy compounds, polyether polyols and other projects, promote PTMEG (polytetrahydrofuran), polyurethane resin and other fields of existing enterprises to further expand production capacity, improve and expand the polyurethane industry chain.

1, relying on the local AA (adipic acid) production capacity advantages, strengthen ADN (adiponitrile) — HDA (Hexamethylenediamine), nylon 66 salt (Hexamethyleneadipate), nylon 66 (polyhexamethylenediamine) and other products planning and construction, and actively introduce long carbon chain nylon, high temperature resistant nylon and other fields of enterprises, to build polyamide industry chain.

2. Relying on the advantages of local MMA (methyl methacrylate) project, strengthen the planning and construction of acetone and other raw material projects, expand MMA production capacity, actively introduce PMMA (polymethacrylate) field enterprises, and build a polymethyl methacrylate industry chain.

3, relying on the local PTA (terephthalic acid) conditions, strengthen the planning and construction of EG (ethylene glycol), PG (propylene glycol), BG (butanediol) and other raw material projects, promote enterprises to further improve PET (polyethylene terephthalate) production capacity, accelerate the development of PET engineering plastic products, and build polyester industry chain.

4, relying on acetylene, vinyl acetate products and technical advantages, develop VAE (vinyl acetate — Ethylene copolymerization), EVA (ethylene — Vinyl acetate copolymerization), T— PVA (thermoplastic polyvinyl alcohol) resin, PVB (polyvinyl butyral) resin, EVOH (vinyl — Vinyl alcohol copolymer) resin and other polyolefin industry chain.

5, relying on the dimethyl carbonate project, combined with the planned construction of MTO (methanol to olefin) project and acetone project, planning and developing bisphenol A project, to build a polycarbonate industry chain relying on methanol resources and POM (polyformaldehyde) technical advantages, expand the scale of POM.

6. Relying on local acetylene resources, develop BDO (1,4— Butanediol), PBAT (polyadipic acid/butylene terephthalate) /PBS (polybutanediol succinate) and other downstream links, and expand the scale of degradable plastic products.

According to the "Plan", Chongqing will give full play to the advantages of local natural gas (shale gas) resources and methanol production capacity, strengthen the planning and construction of MTO projects and BDO projects, actively strive for the implementation of natural gas application demonstration devices, and ensure the supply of synthetic materials. Promote the development of industrial use of synthetic ammonia/urea production enterprises, promote the planning and construction of downstream application projects of chlorine gas and methanol products, and try to achieve local consumption and reduce external traffic.

Chongqing will also give play to the characteristics of chemical products with many functional factors and develop fine chemicals. To meet the needs of the development of electronics, automotive and other industries, the city will actively introduce enterprises in the fields of electronic chemicals and new coatings.
