Smuggling and trafficking of marijuana after 1995

On March 19, Wuhan Tianhe Airport post office and customs staff inspected inbound express and found that there was something wrong with a parcel. After opening the package inspection, it was found that there was a vacuum plastic bag with plant leaves in the express. Tests confirmed that the bag contained marijuana.

This express was sent from the United States, and the delivery address was a Courier locker in a residential district in Wuhan. After contacting with the local public security organs, the police decided to pretend to deliver the express normally, and notified the recipient to pick up the parcel by phone.

According to Ma Wenli, director of the anti-smuggling branch office of Wuhan Tianhe Airport Customs, the two girls, who are high school students at an international school in Wuhan, are well-off and bought more than 630 grams of marijuana online from the United States for their own consumption.

Wuhan Customs dug deep and arrested another 4 young people, all born after 1995, who were involved in smuggling and selling marijuana. At present, the suspects have all been taken compulsory measures, the case is still under further handling.

In the first half of this year, with the strong cooperation and support of local public security, the anti-smuggling department of Wuhan Customs filed 6 cases of drug smuggling, arrested 14 suspects, seized 1228.71 grams of marijuana, 3555.53 grams of methamphetamine, 1360 grams of heroin, and 2884.49 grams of hemp.

Smuggling of dried chili thousands of tons

According to reports, the successful investigation of this case has practical guiding significance for the investigation of similar cases in China, and is the only inland Customs anti-smuggling department selected by the Anti-smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of the first batch of tax-related typical cases in 2019.

At the beginning of this year, the Anti-smuggling Bureau of the General Administration of Customs held a rolling combat and promotion meeting on dried pepper smuggling in Wuhan. The Anti-Smuggling Bureau of Wuhan Customs distributed smuggled dried chili to 20 Chinese customs anti-smuggling bureaus attending the meeting. After two rounds of concentrated crackdown by Chinese Customs, nearly 50 cases of smuggled dried chili were filed and investigated, with the value of the cases exceeding 1 billion yuan and the tax involved exceeding 400 million yuan.

Passengers carrying ivory products

In the first half of this year, a total of 5 cases of smuggling of ivory and its products were filed and investigated, 8 suspects were arrested, and a total of 9,405.19 grams of smuggled ivory and its products were seized and recovered.
