In Indonesia, there will be fines for misusing plastic bags
Shopping malls, supermarkets and traditional markets will be banned from using single-use plastic bags starting July 1, the Jakarta provincial government announced, replacing them with reusable and environmentally friendly shopping bags. The government urged citizens to adapt to environmental groups' recommendations to reduce the use of plastic bags, and those who do not comply with the warning will face fines of 5 million to 25 million dong, about 2,500 to 12,300 yuan, or in severe cases, have their business licenses revoked.
