More than 2,000 unidentified plastic barrels containing highly acidic liquids have drifted onto the coast of Japan

According to Nippon Television, the plastic drums were found in Japan's Shimane prefecture Matsuie city to Masida city along the coast and Okinoshima town. The plastic drums began floating to Japan's coast in March, and as of Sunday, 2,161 plastic drums have been identified in Shimane Prefecture and 161 in Tottori Prefecture.
Most of the plastic drums were found to have hendrix written on them, containing a highly acidic liquid, the report said.
The Shimane prefectural government urged residents who found such plastic drums not to touch them and to contact nearby prefectural soil maintenance offices, police and fire departments. (Compiled by Gong Hao)
