Recently (December 24), the Beijing Plastic pollution Control Action Plan (2020-2025) was officially released. According to the action plan, by the end of this year, shopping malls, supermarkets, pharmacies, bookstores and other retail outlets in Beijing's built-up areas will be banned from using non-degradable plastic bags, and the use of non-degradable plastic bags will be standardized and restricted in market markets. The action plan will be implemented step by step.
Reporter in a large supermarket in Beijing saw that it has begun to sell degradable plastic bags, which are made of starch and biodegradable resin and other raw materials, and can be degraded into water and carbon dioxide in 180 to 360 days. At present, the supermarket offers two types of degradable plastic bags, the price is 70 cents and 1 yuan, respectively.
According to the person in charge of the supermarket, the supermarket began to sell biodegradable plastic bags on December 21, and the amount of plastic bags has decreased compared with before.
