Thailand: Seabed corals are firmly covered by large fishing nets, causing concern
Recently, a video showing a large number of coral on the sea floor in Thailand firmly covered by fishing nets has attracted attention on social networking sites.
A local diver in Thailand recently posted a video on social media. At the time, he was diving off the coast of northern Thailand. He was surprised to find that fishing nets were almost everywhere in the waters, between 13 and 22 meters deep, and large nets covered the bottom of the sea with coral and other Marine life. Not only here, but also in two parts of northwestern Thailand, he found the same serious situation.
Thailand's environment ministry has ordered local authorities to clean up the nets and protect the Marine environment, local media reported.
Pollution and destruction caused by human production and life are threatening countless Marine life.
In 2018, a 500kg whale was stranded on the beach in Thailand. The local Marine resources department immediately sent a medical team to treat it, but it was still in vain and the whale died. When the whale was dissected, a large number of plastic bags were found in its stomach. It is likely that the whale died from eating too much plastic waste.
In August 2019, an eight-month-old female dugong died in Thailand. The adorable baby dugong was an "Internet sensation" in Thailand and an animal protection priority in many countries. When vets carried out a post-mortem on the dugong, they found numerous tiny plastic fragments in its digestive system.
