The bacteria on banknotes are resistant to antibiotics, with 25,000 bacteria on each banknote

When office workers buy breakfast at the breakfast stall, when the stall owner takes the money and hands over the breakfast, have you ever thought that there will be the spread of bacteria in this process, and the carrier is the RMB that people are accustomed to.

Increased paper money with cards to reduce bacteria

Beijing University of Chemical Technology professor and dean of the School of Life science and Technology Yuan Qipeng introduced that the City University of Hong Kong in the early years of 7 countries in Asia banknote health experiment found, In the currencies of seven Asian countries and regions in Hong Kong, China, India, Pakistan, Cambodia, the Philippines, North Korea, renminbi banknotes contain the most bacteria, with the number of up to 178,000 per banknote, which is 160,000 more than the second Hong Kong and Cambodia banknotes. After a few years of experiments on the currencies of Iran, China, Australia and other countries, the amount of bacteria dropped to 25,000 per yuan, 190,000 per Iranian currency, more than the yuan, and at least 700 per Australian dollar. "The obvious decline in the number of bacteria in the yuan is related to the increasing use of bank and credit cards by Chinese people," he said.

It is understood that the Australian dollar is the first country in the world to use plastic sheets as printing materials, and the spread of bacteria is extremely low; Japanese yen added a large number of magnet powder, inhibit the growth of bacteria, and the overall health habits of the people are good, but the cost is high.

Bacteria on banknotes boom

Yuan Qipeng introduced that the study found that the pollution degree of banknotes changes significantly with the climate, and bacteria like high temperature and humid heat environment. The bacterial content on the RMB shows obvious seasonality, and the bacterial number is the highest in summer. This is not only because of the high temperature and humid heat in summer, which is easy for bacteria to survive, but also because of the strong secretion of human sweat and oil, which is easy to attach bacteria and dirt, causing cross pollution when contacting the money. With the decrease of temperature, the total number of bacteria shows a downward trend, and the lowest point is reached in January in winter.

Bacteria spread easily through food

Although the total number of bacteria decreased, but the potential pathogen pollution is still relatively serious, Yuan Qipeng introduced, the experimental results show that, The positive detection rates of coliform, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus and salmonella in RMB were 65.6%, 45.9%, 41.7%, 67.7% and 19.8%. These bacteria are most easily transmitted through food. "What is more of a concern is that the problem of drug resistance of the bacteria is very serious." According to Yuan, the bacteria were found to have a high tolerance rate to multiple antibiotics, making them increasingly difficult to kill. CAI Wenqing J177
