¡°The road to win-win, the road to connecting hearts¡±
¡¾ Belt and Road ¡¤ Win-win cooperation ¡¿
"My family of 5 brothers and sisters, life was very difficult before learning Chinese to find a good job, life has changed since then." Wen Tao, who works in a plastic packaging factory in Cambodia's Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SEZ), told reporters via video link in fluent Chinese that he now earns $800 a month and has a white-collar life.
Located in Cambodia's Sihanoukville Province, the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone is a state-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zone led by China Hongdou Group and jointly developed by Chinese and Cambodian enterprises. It is a landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Ten years ago, the site of the Xigang Special Zone was barren, without water, electricity or Internet. Farming and raising cattle were the main means of livelihood for local villagers. At that time, a cow was worth US $300, equivalent to a year's income for most families, and villagers were worried that the development of the special zone would make them unable to raise cattle and lose their jobs. Zhou Haijiang, chairman of Hongdou Group, promised the villagers that "if the old rice bowl is affected, a new one will be provided."
Up to now, Xigang Special Zone has wide roads and numerous factories. It has introduced 109 enterprises from China, Europe, America, Japan and South Korea and other countries and regions, driving 16,000 people to employment. "More than 70 percent of local families have someone working in the Special Zone. The annual income of these families is generally more than one or two thousand US dollars, and their living standards have been greatly improved." Chen Jiangang, chairman of Westport Special Zone Co LTD, said. Sihanoukville Governor Run Minh has said many times that the Sihanoukville Special Zone is the "rice bowl" of the people of Sihanoukville.
In recent years, the "Chinese language fever" has gradually risen in the local area. The Xigang Special Zone has specially organized free Chinese language and skills training. So far, 10 sessions have been held, and about 23,500 people have participated in them. Two groups of Cambodian students have been funded to further their studies in China. In addition, the Xigang Special Economic Zone has also carried out charitable activities, such as building school buildings, repairing Bridges and paving roads for the local people, and mobilizing its employees to provide one-to-one assistance to poor students.
Nowadays, Wuxi and Sihanoukville of China have become sister cities, and Jiangsu and Sihanoukville have also signed a memorandum of friendship and cooperation. The "mutual benefit and win-win situation" of the Xigang Special Economic Zone has achieved remarkable results.
"The Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone has always positioned itself as the" messenger of China-Cambodia friendship "and adhered to the concept of" win-win cooperation between all parties ". Zhou Haijiang said that the Belt and Road is a "road of win-win results and a road of connecting hearts". Only by grasping the common denominator of "development", working for the interests of the people and building popular projects can the countries and people along the belt and Road win the support of the people and realize the benefits of the people.
