A new low temperature esterification catalyst has been developed successfully
Recently, Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Anyang Normal University developed a new type of catalyst. The catalyst can improve the reaction efficiency of the plasticizers DOP(diisooctyl phthalate) and DOTP(diisooctyl terephthalate) and reduce the reaction energy consumption.
The catalyst has two major characteristics: first, the esterification temperature is lower than the boiling point of isoctyl alcohol, which can solve the problem that isoctyl alcohol is always in the "evaporation" during the esterification process. Condensation – The problem of high energy consumption and low reaction efficiency caused by reflux state; Second, the catalyst is always in a solid state before and after the reaction, and can be recovered by simple filtration after the reaction, and the economic benefit is significantly improved. At the same time, due to the reduction of reaction temperature, the product color is good, and the activated carbon decolorization process is expected to be eliminated.
The chemical composition of the catalyst is organic acid titanium salt, with the same or lower than the current titanate catalyst dosage for DOP, DOTP production process, the double esterification temperature from 220¡æ~240¡æ reduced to 145¡æ~155¡æ, thus greatly reducing the reaction energy consumption and isoctyl alcohol loss.
DOP and DOTP are important plasticizers, which are prepared by esterification reaction of phthalic anhydride and terephthalic acid under acidic catalyst. The traditional catalyst is sulfuric acid, which is gradually replaced by non-acidic catalysts (such as titanates) due to pollution problems. The relevant production enterprises in China currently use titanate catalyst system, although the system solves the pollution problem of sulfuric acid, but the double esterification temperature is 220¡æ~240¡æ, high energy consumption, and the catalyst can not be recycled and reused in the post-treatment process.
