dear President trump:
hello. I am a respiratory nurse who returned from treating patients in Wuhan Hospital. I still have vivid memories of the 42,000 medical workers and local colleagues in Hubei who saved lives around the clock. I would like to write a letter to you and tell you the story of Wuhan.
The day we leave for Wuhan is Chinese New Year's Eve, just like Christmas Eve in America. It is the most important day for family reunion in China, but I am a medical worker, and saving lives is our duty and commitment. With this in mind, my 42,000 medical staff and I said goodbye to our families without hesitation, rushed to Wuhan from all directions, and began the battle for life with death.
This sudden epidemic came with a menacing force. At the beginning, our medical supplies were very tight. In order to save money, we were not willing to take off our protective suits to breathe, even though we were sweating and even felt dizzy and nauseous. So, when I saw some doctors in the United States only use plastic bags as protective clothing, I felt empathy. When I see the bereaved families of American medical workers crying and holding up photos, I feel very sad.
The hardest days are over. The most gratifying thing for me is to see more and more patients cured and discharged from hospital, especially those old people with white hair. We treat every elderly person like their own parents, without abandoning or giving up, and have cured more than 3,600 elderly patients over 80 years old in Hubei Province. I am really happy and proud, because they have worked hard for our lives today, and I have the opportunity to do my best for their lives today.
In Wuhan, from a 108-year-old man to a baby just 30 hours old, we do our best to treat them. It is our duty to save the dying and heal the wounded! Life is above all else!
Mr. President, this is what happened in Wuhan.
I know that at this moment, many Americans are suffering from the virus, many American medical workers are fighting on the front line, and many unknown people are caring for others in different ways. I pay tribute to them. Best wishes to the American people.
