Antistatic Gospel! Coperion builds a complete anti-static plastic machine system

It is reported that Coperion has built a complete electrostatic dissipating polymer system for a customer in Finland, covering the transportation of raw materials, feeding, dissipative polymer processing and finished product processing, which is a great benefit for the industry requiring high strength anti-static electricity.

Anti-static Gospel! Coperion builds complete anti-static machine system

Stuttgart, Germany-based Coperion announced the installation of a complete electrostatic dissipating polymer (IDP) system for its IonPhas EOy plant in Tampere, Finland. From the transportation of raw materials, feeding, handling of dissipative polymers, to the handling of finished products.

Finnish technology company IonPhasE Oy is a leading manufacturer of electrostatic dissipative polymer additives, also known as permanent antistatic additives, used to control static electricity in plastics. Antistatic additives are used in a variety of industries that require antistatic properties, including the electrical, chemical and automotive industries, and are used in consumer products that require electrostatic protection, such as air conditioning units, vacuum cleaners, switches and casings.

The system includes a feed station with 11 highly integrated Coperion K-Tron feeders to ensure the continuous distribution of precisely formulated raw materials to the extruder. IDPs is compounded in a high performance ZSK45Mc18 compact twin-screw extruder equipped with ZS-B side feeders and ZS-EG twin-screw side deswing unit. When the ZS-EG extruder is in operation, the polymer matrix is gently plasticized and reacts with a variety of additives. Subsequently, an underwater pelletizer with optimized flow channels ensures a constant flow rate and high productivity. The downstream peripherals then dry the product and pack it through a semi-automatic packaging system.

A team including global experts from Coperion's division as well as local employees will ensure IonPhasE is able to tailor a process solution to its needs, including compliance with local regulations. Coperion service personnel have taken over the project following the installation of the system, so a full local service is guaranteed once the system is operational. The system has been operational since the end of 2016 and Coperion designs, develops and produces the compounding and extrusion systems; Feeding and weighing technology; And bulk material handling systems and services.
