The Coca-Cola Company has also recognized this and announced that it will increase the use of recycled plastics, stamp environmental labels and increase consumer satisfaction.
New eco-friendly plastic bottle made from organic ingredients from sugarcane tree
Recently, Coca-Cola Indonesia launched a new technology called "Affordable Small Dazzling packaging", which has been proven to reduce plastic use in Indonesia by 40%, equivalent to 800 tons of plastic per year. The technology is made from organic ingredients from the sugarcane tree and only uses 9.6 grams of plastic per bottle, compared to the 20 grams per bottle previously used. This not only greatly reduces the amount of plastic used, but also saves a lot of production costs. In addition, the plastic bottles are easier to recycle.Tliyono, public relations director of Coca-Cola Indonesia. The Coca-Cola Company issued an environmental statement announcing an increase in the use of recycled plastic to increase customer satisfaction.
It is reported that in order to develop the environmentally friendly "affordable small eye-catching packaging" plastic bottles, the Coca-Cola company and Germany KHSGmbH cooperation, the construction of environmentally friendly plastic bottle factory in Indonesia, the factory investment of up to 21 million US dollars, the production capacity of 188,000 bottles per hour. Since 2014, Coca-Cola Indonesia has invested US $500 million and spent US $240 million in the last three years for marketing, distribution and innovation of packaging plastic technology.
Grant &bull, Supply Chain Technology Manager, Coca-Cola Indonesia; GrantMcClean confirmed that the change in plastic bottle packaging technology has not had a big impact on sales and production costs. Production capacity remains at 200m bottles a year.
In fact, making bottles from 100% recycled plastic can reduce energy consumption by 75% compared to raw plastic, but beverage manufacturers are reluctant to make plastic bottles from recycled plastic (RPET) for brand image and sales concerns. According to Greenpeace, the average recycling rate for bottles produced by the world's top six beverage companies is only 6.6%, two of which have no intention of recycling at all, and none of the companies that want to achieve 100% recycling.

Earlier, Coca-Cola UK announced that it will adopt a new recycling policy, increase the use of renewable plastic in plastic bottles, increase the recycling rate of plastic bottles to 50%, and will work with British recyclers, hoping to recycle all plastic bottles sold in Britain.
It is reported that the plastic bottles used in soft drinks and bottled water are made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a highly recyclable material. The bottles can also be made from 100% recycled plastic (RPET) if the manufacturer wishes.
