Dalian, Liaoning: Customs intercepted four batches of illegal imported insects

Recently, Dalian Post Office Customs intercepted four batches of illegal insects among incoming mail.

Since May, Dalian Post Customs has always found suspected "problem" mail every three times when conducting mechanical inspection of incoming mail. These emails are sent from Saitama Prefecture, Japan to Dalian, there are snacks, toys, although the mail sent when the declaration of the name looks "disguised" very well, but after unpacking inspection, the mail inside the "secret" has broken itself.

Liu Miao, deputy chief of the Customs Supervision Section of Dalian Post Office: Most of these emails were falsely reported as plastic models, toys, etc., but the customs officers opened the box and found that they were insects from overseas.

Deputy Section chief of the Customs Quarantine Supervision Section of Dalian Post Xue Teng: These insects included 23 adult insects, 21 larvae, and 1 dead insect carcass and 1 insect specimen. The species are Machanghaigua, Sphaigua crab, rhinoceros guiyas and Megaristophorus longhaigua, of which, Machanghaigua subspecies is the first intercepted at Chinese ports.

Four batches of 46 insects were intercepted, all belonging to the genus beetle, and were packed in separate plastic containers. When opened for inspection, some of the insects were found to be broken, and some of the insects even crawled out of the containers. Most of them feed on rotting wood and leaves, and entering China is likely to pose a threat to the ecological balance. At present, the customs has detained the insects in accordance with the law.
