On September 25, the "2023 Global Sustainable Transport Summit Forum" hosted by the Ministry of Transport opened in Beijing. During the forum, more than 20 side events were held to carry out diversified discussions around the five major topics designed to promote the "Five Persistences" initiative for global transport cooperation. Didi attended the opening ceremony and side events, sharing its practices and explorations in pilot projects for a strong transport country, prevention and control of safety risks, and integrated smart travel.

The 15th World International Transport Technology and Equipment Exhibition was held at the same time, with 88 leading transport companies and institutions from 14 countries participating in the exhibition. As a one-stop travel platform dedicated to "making travel better", Didi participated in the "Future Transport" exhibition.

Improve safety management and let the society share the results

Paying attention to the safety issues of various businesses is a microcosm of Didi's prevention and control of safety risks over the years.

In the past few years, Didi has invested tens of billions of yuan in the construction of a safety system, building a safety system covering the three stages before, during and after the trip. Through the verification of three certificates, criminal offenses and serious public security penalties, the safety threshold for driver access is strictly controlled. "As of 2022, through registration interception and patrol clearance, the platform has isolated a total of 1.5 million risky drivers and black market drivers. At present, the frequency of back-check patrols has been increased to once a week at the fastest." Hou Jinglei, Didi's chief travel safety officer, introduced at the side meeting.

In addition to the safety protection before, during and after the trip, Didi has also formed a safety review system that combines classic theory and data analysis: summarizing hundreds of conclusions on the causes of industry accidents, providing support for the generation and iteration of 5 sets of safety standards, dozens of management systems, more than 160 general safety rules, more than 800 safety execution rules, and thousands of prevention strategies.

These achievements are also constantly shared with the industry and society. "Since 2019, we have participated in the compilation or release of an average of two corporate standards or group standards each year." Hou Jinglei said, "Among them, safety standards include online car-hailing safety standards, and safety precautions technical specifications that will be released soon."

"To ensure the safety of the order's itinerary, it is also very important to investigate and manage hidden dangers on the basis of strict risk control," said Xiao Shuangsheng, head of Didi's security center. "In the past few years, a total of 1.12 million times of voice interaction and intervention in risk scenarios with safety experts; hundreds of safety invention patents have been accumulated; more than 27 million phone calls are made each year to remind the back seat to wear seat belts; in 2022, 64.4 million distracted driving broadcast interventions were carried out, and more than 4.9 million drivers received anti-fatigue driving training."

Technological innovation makes urban transportation more convenient

"Public transportation coverage is limited, and there are tidal effect connection problems at stations. In peak scenarios, there may be problems such as insufficient number of two-wheeled vehicles and long waiting time for taxis." At the "Integrated Smart Travel" side meeting, Cao Le, general manager of Didi's user growth department and CTO of online car-hailing, said that there are currently three typical problems in urban transportation: high pressure on station connection and evacuation, reduced commuting comfort, and local imbalance between supply and demand.

In order to help solve these problems, Didi, relying on online big data and offline service capabilities, has designed a one-stop travel service of "online car-hailing/shared bicycles + rail transit", enabling travelers to experience the full chain of travel service experience from "travel navigation-connection mode switching-fare payment". Didi's upcoming bus and subway business will provide users with transfer query services, electronic boarding code services and online password-free payment, improving the convenience of travel.

At the same time, Didi will also integrate public transportation and cultural and tourist attractions, connect travel services and ticket resources, innovate green travel services, enhance the attractiveness of green travel, and gradually promote the "self-driving travel" group to "green travel".

It is worth mentioning that autonomous driving cars are seen as an important part of future shared and sustainable travel. At present, Didi's autonomous driving has been operating safely for more than 1,100 consecutive days, and has achieved mixed dispatching in the operating areas of Shanghai and Guangzhou. Passengers can use autonomous driving travel services through Didi App as a supplement to online car-hailing travel services.

Focusing on the operation scenarios of autonomous driving, Didi's autonomous driving has also taken the lead in designing the first 24-hour autonomous driving automatic operation and maintenance center-Huijugang, with a full process automation rate of 90%.

Currently, Didi's autonomous driving is working with partners to fully promote the mass production of unmanned new energy vehicles, hoping to provide users with safe, economical and comfortable autonomous driving travel services.

Low-carbon transformation makes travel mode greener

"Why do you display a suitcase at such a high-end exhibition?" At the exhibition site, more than one visitor raised questions about the suitcase next to the Qingju bicycle.

The staff on site told the audience, "This suitcase is transformed from a scrapped Qingju bicycle frame." In order to continue to tap the value potential of scrapped bicycles, Didi Qingju has combined upstream and downstream resources of the industry to carry out a waste asset recycling project, incorporating recycled materials into new car manufacturing and smart reconstruction. Each new Qingju shared bicycle adds 60% recycled aluminum and 40% recycled plastic.

Didi has always been committed to becoming an active practitioner of green development, energy conservation and environmental protection concepts. By continuously promoting two-wheeled slow-moving transportation, electrification of online ride-hailing vehicles, and developing shared transportation, we will continue to promote the transformation of travel modes to a greener and more intensive direction. By the end of 2022, the platform will have registered more than 2 million pure electric vehicles, which is expected to account for about 20% of China's pure electric vehicle ownership. In 2022, the platform's pure electric vehicle mileage accounted for about 45%.

In order to promote the greening of electricity sources, Didi's Xiaoju Energy has deployed charging networks in more than 360 cities in China. As of the end of June 2023, Xiaoju Charging has deployed more than 100,000 charging guns in more than 150 cities, serving more than 9 million users, charging more than 11.6 billion kWh, and reducing carbon emissions by 5.68 million tons.

In the future, Xiaoju Energy will also give full play to its core advantages in technology and offline charging networks, build a "digital energy management and control platform", make open cooperation and green consumption the main driving force for energy product innovation investment, and help the industry's low-carbon transformation.
