France will ban disposable plastic tableware in 2020
France has passed a new law requiring single-use cutlery, such as cups and forks, to be made from bio-based ingredients rather than petroleum-based ones.
The ban will come into effect in 2020, the British newspaper The Independent reported Tuesday.
Some environmentalists support the ban. But opponents say it violates European Union rules on the free movement of goods.
