High performance 3D printed car carbon fiber reinforced nylon material can replace metal parts
According to foreign media reports, MakerBot, a subsidiary of 3D printing specialist Stratasys, has launched a carbon fiber version of METHOD, Through 3 d printing production car carbon fiber reinforced nylon material, 3 d printing will ascend to a new level.
METHOD Carbon Fiber platformThe new METHOD carbon fiber version is designed to enable engineers to print stronger, more precise parts that better fit into tooling. METHOD Carbon Fiber Edition is the latest addition to the METHOD platform that prints automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon material, resulting in increased strength and heat resistance of the material. The new METHOD X carbon fiber edition features a new composite extruder for printing carbon fiber reinforced nylon for automotive. The new MakerBot nylon carbon fiber material is an ideal alternative to metal and can be used in automotive structural parts, such as vehicle mounts and instruments, engine nacelle, etc. It is well known that automotive carbon fiber is widely used in automotive manufacturing due to its strong thermal and mechanical properties. As an alternative to metal parts, METHOD provides new technical support for the application of automotive carbon fiber in the automotive industry.
MakerBot President and CEO Nadav Goshen said: "Automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon is one of the most sought after and exciting materials. Due to its high strength, heat resistance and stiffness performance, this material is well suited to replace metal parts, thereby further reducing costs. With the introduction of METHOD Carbon Fiber, we are experimenting with more D-print composite applications. METHOD Carbon Fiber is the latest addition to the fast-growing METHOD 3D printing platform."
METHOD produces automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon parts with consistent quality and surface finish. Users can print complex geometry shapes with internal voids using MakerBot's PVA soluble substrates and harden the material using METHOD's new annealing function in the heating chamber, ultimately increasing part strength. The METHOD X carbon fiber version allows users to print complex geometry with a soluble Stratasys SR-30 substrate for better surface quality. The system's drying chamber helps keep the auto-resistant carbon fiber reinforced wet nylon material dry for better print quality.
MakerBot plans to offer more color page composite extruders and METHOD carbon fiber versions of composites for 3D printing in the future. With chamber temperatures up to 110 бу C, the system will be able to support a wider range of high-performance composite fabrication. It is reported that the 3D-printed MakerBot car carbon fiber reinforced nylon material will be available in June 2020. The
METHOD 3D printing platform is ideal for 3D printing high-quality materials, printing parts with high precision, and can be applied to a variety of raw materials. Specific examples include: automotive carbon fiber reinforced nylon, PC-ABS, PC-ABS FR, ABS, ASA, Nylon, PETG, Tough, PLA, SR-30, PVA, etc.
