German startup Share has teamed up with German filling and packaging equipment company KHS to launch a line of drinking water packaged in 100% recycled PET(rPET) bottles

Next year, Berlin-based Share plans to use 1 million water bottles per month made from recycled PET material. The move will "save 200 metric tons of waste plastic per year," the company says. Share's bottled drinking water is now available at German retail store Rewe.

Iris Braun, director of product and social programs at Share, said: "It took a long time to go from concept to actual implementation, and it was also a long process to complete the development of the technology and obtain certification. "That's why the cooperation of our partners is so important." Marc Eysel, head of sales for KHS Corpoplast in Northern Europe, says KHS is supporting the start-up in several ways, such as developing a recyclable water bottle.

He added: "We quickly went into action and worked together to develop the right design."

" Compared to new plastics, recycled plastics have a darker color, which makes them more susceptible to heat and relatively simple to produce."

He added: "Environmental protection is an important consideration for KHS, and we show our support through energy efficient factories and the development of sustainable PET water bottles."
