Nordson combines its BKG pelletizer business with its melt transfer equipment business
Nordson Corporation has increased Nordson's effectiveness in serving customers as the primary source of component supply and expertise for polymer processing by consolidating the capacity of previously independently operated pelletizing and melt conveying equipment.
Nordson BKG GmbH will operate as a subdivision of the Nordson Polymer Processing Systems (PPS) product line and will be headquartered at the newly expanded Munster facility, which will serve as the home for all BKG& REG; The global hub for all BKG&REg products. The expansion of Munster's longtime BKG pelletizer production site will more than triple the space of the previous location. The full relocation of all operations is under way to maximise uninterrupted supply and will be completed by autumn 2018. The expanded facility will also provide a dedicated aftermarket service centre for BKG Systems and the Extrusion and coating die head business of Extrusion Dies Industries.
The combined business entity is the result of the merger of two well-known Munster companies that Nordson acquired in 2013: BKG GmbH, a producer of pelleting systems, and Kreyenborg GmbH, a manufacturer of melt conveying equipment, including mesh changers, reversing valves and melt pumps. In addition, Nordson has acquired Extrusion Dies Industries as well as the Verbruggen extrusion and coating die head business, and Xaloy® for extrusion and injection molding; A range of screws and cylinders. Nordson PPS now supplies these products to plastic processors, compound producers, recyclers, resin manufacturers and major process equipment Oems, supported by a global network of localized sales and service centers.
Godfrey M. Sandham, Vice President, Nordson PPS-EAME
" With the merger of Nordson BKG GmbH and the combination of our production capacity at one Munster site, Nordson has formed a united team that leverages the technology and project experience of traditional companies to create new opportunities to serve our customers." Godfrey Sandham, Vice President, Nordson PPS-EAME, says, "Often we offer a combination of parts that work together to optimize our customers' processes. "For example, compound producers or recyclers can rely on us for pelletizer machines, valves, melt pumps and filtration systems."
At the same time, Mr. Sandham noted that Nordson will continue to build new assembly, laboratory and technical support capabilities for BKG products from other parts of the world, thereby creating a truly global source for pelletizer and melt transfer technologies. Recent initiatives to expand BKG product capacity include the assembly of mesh changers and gear pumps in Shanghai, the establishment of new underwater pelletizing laboratories in Shanghai and Chonburi, Thailand, and the expansion of a laboratory in Hickory, North Carolina, USA, for pelletizing and melt transfer equipment.
