Plasticizing kit increases the productivity of high glass fiber filling mixtures in injection molding

New plasticizing systems for polymers containing high levels of glass fiber reinforced materials offer wear resistance, high performance and mild mixing, enabling injection molding manufacturers to meet the requirements of metal replacement and other high-strength applications while improving productivity and component quality.

Xaloy® The High fiberglass filled polymer Plasticizer set is designed for a wide range of resin injection processes with filling content ranging from 10% to 60% and will be presented by Nordson Corporation at Plastics Deutschland 2017 (stand A6-6109). Applications include automotive, Marine, electronics and other components that require extremely high strength and stiffness.

Xaloy® The parts in the plasticizing set include:

Xaloy® Pulsar "TM mixing screw, whose wavy root geometry enhances the quality of the distributed mix, enabling constant variations in local high and low pressure zones to produce full melt homogenization at low shear. This minimizes fiber breakage during gentle mixing and therefore maximizes component strength.

Xaloy® X-8000TM coated screw, a nickel-based alloy with a high tungsten carbide content, has twice the wear and corrosion life of a standard high speed oxygen fuel (HVOF) coating. Nordson uses HVOF technology to coat the surface of the entire screw geometry, and then fuses the alloy to the screw base material to form a metallurgical bond. In addition, Xaloy® The X-8000 coated screw is twice as thick as the standard HVOF coated.

Xaloy® X-800® Barrel liner, a liner that combines nickel-based alloy with tungsten carbide, with high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and its function is similar to that of Xaloy® X-8000 coated screw compatible.

Custom valves designed to accommodate the viscosity and flow characteristics of high filled polymers.

" Wear resistance is just one of the requirements for successful handling of high-fill polymers required in metal displacement and other high-performance applications, "said Mark Colella, global product Manager for Nordson's Xaloy brand. "Our new Xaloy® The plasticizer kit will help injection molding manufacturers overcome the productivity and component quality challenges of today's increasingly high glass fiber reinforced material fillings."
