Shocking! 40 kg of plastic found in the stomach of a dead whale in the Philippines

< /strong> US media said that researchers found a dead whale in the Philippines with 40 kilograms of plastic bags in its stomach.

A dead beaked whale was found on the coast of the Compostela River Valley in the Philippines, CNN reported on March 18. The cause of death was dehydration and starvation caused by inhaling the plastic bag.

Marine biologist and conservationist Darrell Blatchley, chairman and founder of a natural history museum in Davao City in the Philippines, said the male whale vomited blood before it died on March 15, and they performed an autopsy on the whale that led to the "disgusting" findings.

He said the whale's stomach contained about 40 kilograms of rice bags, grocery bags, banana planting bags and ordinary plastic bags, an unacceptable amount. There were 16 of the bags, and the plastic had already begun to calcify. Blatchley said whales do not drink seawater. They get their fresh water from the food they eat, which caused the whale to die of dehydration and starvation.

He said it was the most plastic inside a whale he had ever seen.

He called on the Philippine government to take steps to combat the widespread use of single-use plastics.
