Songwon will launch its latest range of stabilizer products at K 2019

Songwon Industrial Co., Ltd will be showcasing its wide range of high-performance solutions at K2019.

The company will be showcasing its rich and growing product range and bespoke solutions for a wide range of applications.

These products and solutions meet stringent requirements and contribute to breakthrough applications in many important growth areas such as automotive, electronics, packaging and film, healthcare, agriculture, and more.

In addition, Songwon has increased its focus on sustainable development and is committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and addressing the world's pressing issues, including energy and greenhouse gas reduction, water conservation and material efficiency.

Industry-leading innovations

Songwon has more than 50 years of experience in the development of plastic stabilizers, advanced technology, and the potential to provide customers with added value and differentiation by constantly pushing the boundaries of plastic performance.

Since 2015, Songwon has steadily expanded its high-performance solutions on top of its standard polymer stabilizers, adding lubricant additives, paint stabilizers, chemicals for electronic products, new PU grades, functional monomers, and more.

Songwon launched 10 new products in 2018. Songwon will also introduce a new line of flame retardants at K 2019, which uses proprietary technology and is designed to combine high performance with safety and sustainability.

In 2017, Songwon invested in a new "state-of-the-art" technology innovation center in South Korea. Recently, to support the needs of existing and new businesses, a new application lab for lubricants and coatings was launched at the center.

Increase production capacity

To meet the growing market demand, Songwon continues to expand its global manufacturing operations. Songwon has state-of-the-art facilities that produce high-quality antioxidants and UV stabilizers with world-class production capacity.

Recently, Songwon increased its stake in its joint venture in China, Qingdao Longyun Songwon Chemical Co., which manufactures one-group subsystem (OPS) customizable solutions and supplies Songwon's full range of polymer stabilizers to polyolefin producers in China.

With its global network and leading position in polymer and coating stabilizers, Songwon entered into a partnership with Dissun Technology Co LTD in 2018 to produce UVA light stabilizers.

The partnership is an important step for the company in ensuring long-term, reliable protection of additional production capacity for key products and enables Songwon to guarantee the reliability of ongoing supply.

This year, Songwon also stepped up its collaboration with long-time partner SABO Corporation. SABO is a global leader in the development and manufacture of hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS). SABO recently introduced an innovative light stabilization system, SABO.STAB UV 216, which was developed specifically for harsh agricultural applications and provides the industry with a high-performance solution. Songwon will leverage SABO's technical expertise with strong field support from Songwon Technical Services, the global application community and an experienced sales team to market SABO.STAB UV 216.

Contribute to sustainability

Plastic recycling is so important to Songwon, its customers and the environment that the company has developed several automotive polyolefin compounding strategies. The company also cooperates with various project partners in the circular economy along the product value chain.

In addition, the company is continuously optimizing processes internally, sourcing and using resources more efficiently, reducing Songwon's environmental impact, and exploring solutions to improve plastic recyclability. One of its recent success stories is being one of the first chemical companies in the world to package its products in 20 kg PE bags, which are manufactured using 50% recycled PE from its customers.

In order to lead the development of Songwon's global sustainability strategy and ensure that the sustainability framework is embedded in corporate strategy and planning and implemented uniformly, Songwon appointed its first Chief Sustainability Officer Olivier Keizer in April.

Keiser said: "The cornerstone of Songwon's success is innovation, and innovation focuses on achieving optimal efficiency and economy for our customers combined with high reliability in production. Based on our strong technical capabilities, we are committed to bringing the latest sustainable innovations to market."

Set for further growth

Songwon's turnover has increased by nearly 21% since the implementation of a new organizational structure based on strategic business units in 2015. In addition, its global team of people from 28 different countries has also grown by nearly 32 percent. By understanding and anticipating market needs, Songwon has continuously built strong customer and supplier relationships and consolidated its competitive position in the entire industry.

Songwon will be on display at K 2019 in Dusseldorf, Germany, from October 16 to 23, at booth B07 in Hall 6.
