PEEK features: High temperature fluidity, high decomposition temperature.

PEEK is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer, melting point is about 343 degrees Celsius, PEEk thermal stability: Heating to 427 degrees Celsius is difficult to detect PEEK decomposition volatiles, Fourier infrared (FT-IR) detection PEEK and CFR-PEEK composite decomposition temperature between 400 and 480 degrees Celsius, there is no significant difference in the thermal decomposition of the two. PEEK insulation at 400 degrees Celsius for half an hour, the weight loss is less than 1%, insulation at 360 degrees Celsius for 1 hour, no obvious degradation, long-term stable temperature at 340 degrees Celsius (melting point), continuous working temperature at 160 degrees Celsius.

Common thermoplastic processing methods are suitable for PEEK materials, including: injection molding, extrusion, molding, spraying and so on.

The general process of PEEK injection molding is as follows:

1. Drying: Granular polymers generally absorb 0.5%w/w atmospheric moisture, for best results, should be dried until the moisture is less than 0.02%w/w. The material can be dried in an air circulating furnace for at least 3 hours at 150 бу C or 2 hours at 160 бу C. If it is dried in a drying oven, the thickness of the raw material in the tray can not exceed 25mm. And prevent pollution.

2. Recycling: The remaining materials can be recycled and injected into pure materials. It is recommended that the recycled material without fillings should not exceed 30% of the total weight, and the recycled mixture with fillings should not exceed 10% of the total weight.

3. Thermal stability: If the equipment is stopped during the melting process, and the polymer residence time does not exceed 1 hour, there is no obvious degradation of the material at 360 бу C temperature. However, if the shutdown time exceeds 1 hour, the barrel temperature should be reduced to 340бц, at this temperature, the material can remain stable for several hours, and the barrel temperature must be increased when continuing to process, such as the shutdown time exceeds 3 hours, the barrel should be cleaned. Some materials that can maintain stable performance at 380 бу C can be used, such as polyether sulfone or polyether imide, and polyethylene with low MFI can also be cleaned.

4. Injection machine: The melting point of the polymer is 343 бу C, which is suitable for traditional machines that can maintain the melt temperature at 360 ~ 400 бу C.

5. Barrel capacity: Due to the high processing temperature of PEEK polymer, the residence time of the material must be as short as possible. The ideal barrel capacity is 2-5 times the total injection weight.

6. Nozzle and blocking system: The melting point of the polymer is very high, and the melt will cure quickly if the temperature drops below 343 бу C. Therefore, it is necessary to install a large enough heater at the nozzle to prevent the cooling of the "injection molding cold material".

8. Barrel temperature: unenhanced level is 360-380бц, enhanced level is 380-400бц.

9. Mold temperature: the surface temperature of the mold is 175-205бц.

10. Injection pressure: the general injection pressure 70-140MPa.

11. Injection speed: medium to high speed.

12. Back pressure: It is recommended to set the back pressure to 0-1.0MPa(0-10 kgf/cm2).

13. Screw speed: The general screw speed is 50-100rpm, for the strengthening grade, it is recommended to use a lower screw speed.

14. Molding shrinkage: different grades of polymer have different shrinkage rates, unfilled level is about: 1.2-2.4%, fill level is: 0.1-1.1%.

15. Secondary processing: can be bonded, tapping, pressing, metal insert, cutting and surface metallization and other secondary processing.
