The anti-smuggling department of the Chinese Customs busted 22 suspected smuggling gangs, arrested 115 suspects, and verified 338,100 tons of waste plastic, waste slag and other goods involved in ecological damage.

At 6 am, under the unified command of the General Administration of Customs, 12 customs units directly under the Guangdong branch, including Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing, Huangpu, Xiamen, Qingdao, Shenzhen and Shantou, carried out centralized net collection operations in 8 provinces (municipalities) at the same time.

In Guangdong, anti-smuggling officers of Huangpu Customs busted two gangs smuggling waste plastics and arrested 63 suspects. Guangzhou Customs, together with Dalian and Hangzhou Customs, broke up four gangs smuggling solid waste. In Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province, customs officers seized 1,345 used compressors.

As of March 20, China had imported 3.02 million tons of solid waste, down 37 percent year on year; And 53 smuggling cases were investigated, down 43 percent year on year.
