Working together to build a beautiful China, Meituan Qingshan Project meal box recycling is in action
In August 2017, Meituan Takeout launched the Qingshan Plan to work together with the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, the Qingshan Environmental Protection Advisory Group, industry institutions, and public welfare partners to jointly promote the green and low-carbon circular development of the whole industry. Actively promote the "source reduction" of tableware, and launch the "No cutlery option" on the Meituan Takeout app to guide users to reduce the use of disposable tableware when placing orders. By the end of 2021, more than 100 million Meituan takeout users have chosen "No cutlery". Set up an environmental protection zone in the food delivery business service market, establish and update the recommended list of food delivery environmental packaging, and incubate innovative packaging products. By the end of 2021, 2 million merchants have been equipped with Qingshan archives, and 37,000 merchants have voluntarily uploaded their environmental protection experiences or commitments in the "Qingshan Archives of Merchants". In cooperation with the government, communities, universities, non-governmental organizations (ngos), catering businesses, recycling and recycling enterprises and other entities, pilot exploration of plastic lunch box classification recycling and recycling mode. In Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Xiamen and other cities, more than 1200 garbage sorting and lunch box recycling pilot projects have been launched, covering 7 types of scenes including cities, communities, office buildings, campuses, scenic spots, large-scale events and stores. Combined with the exploration of take-out lunch box door-to-door recycling mode, campus card classification points incentive system, through the organization of online and offline public advocacy activities, supporting community front-end intelligent recycling equipment to increase categories, funding the expansion of lunch box sorting equipment, etc., to promote the normalization, scale and standardization of lunch box recycling. The recycled plastic lunch boxes are recycled to achieve the "reshaping of the new life" of the lunch box waste. In April 2021, Meituan Qingshan plans to jointly carry out a pilot project of recycling plastic lunch boxes at the city level in Xiamen with Luhai Environmental Protection, covering 4 districts in the city, and realizing the annual large-scale recycling of about 2,520 tons of lunch boxes in about 1,000 communities and units in a total of 50 communities.
