vegetable leaves and fish scales are piled up everywhere, and raw meat and cooked food are randomly placed

The vegetable market is an indispensable place for people in their daily life. On December 30, 2012, the Food Safety Office of The State Council issued a notice, requiring all localities to increase food safety work during the New Year's Day and Spring Festival, and comprehensively eliminate food safety hazards in holiday markets. In recent days, our reporter visited a number of vegetable markets in Beijing and found that many vegetable markets are still chaotic, and safety hazards are widespread.

The health situation is worrying. Due to poor management, the sanitary condition of individual wet markets is worrying. In the side entrance of a vegetable market near Chegongzhuang, Xicheng District, the eye is full of fish scales and vegetable leaves that have been disposed of. The ground is thick with black things, and flies fly about on it. It is almost impossible to get off the foot. It is common for most stall owners to cut meat immediately after collecting the money. Some stall owners spit and smoke at will. In a vegetable market, the reporter also saw an old woman holding her granddaughter in the garbage can of the vegetable market to urinate.

Meat is placed on the cutting board for a long time. At a wet market near Dongsi Ten in Beijing's Dongcheng district, at least a dozen pieces of meat are placed directly on the chopping board, despite refrigeration equipment. Some of them had been left for a long time and showed obvious signs of hardening. In an open-air market in Haidian District, the reporter also found that some stalls selling raw meat had been cut directly on the cutting board without any cover. Reporters randomly interviewed several consumers, they all have concerns about meat safety. Generally speaking, meat should not be stored at room temperature for more than 2 hours, otherwise it is easy to lose water, bacteria exceed the standard.

Cooked food safety risk is the biggest. A reporter who visited several wet markets in Beijing's Xicheng and Fengtai districts found that almost every market had pickled products, dairy products or homemade cold dishes. These foods are not marked with manufacturers and dates, and strictly speaking, they belong to the "three no products". Some experts have done experiments, sauce elbow put at room temperature for 6 hours will exceed the bacteria. China Agricultural University food College associate professor He Jiguo said that the link of cooked food processing is very secret, we do not know how to do it, do not rule out some vendors in order to make cooked food more attractive, illegal use of food additives. Coupled with the poor environment, the safety risks are relatively large. Cold dishes if the day can not be sold and improperly stored is very easy to lead to excessive bacteria, causing food poisoning.

Ultra-thin plastic bags are still in use. Although the "plastic limit" has been implemented for many years, ultra-thin plastic bags or colored plastic bags are still popular in the wet market. Seeing customers come, reaching out for plastic bags is almost every stall owner's first action. Dong Jinshi, a food packaging safety expert, said the bags may contain harmful substances. According to Chinese regulations, colored plastic bags are not allowed to be used directly to contain food, whether it is raw or cooked.

He Jiguo finally reminded that most of the products in the market are no problem, fresh food such as fresh fruits and vegetables, aquatic products, can be purchased, but cooked food products and meat, it is best to go to the supermarket, its process monitoring, preservation and processing are more strict. After buying meat home, be sure to cook it thoroughly.
