Ascend to launch new specialty polyamides at K 2019
Ascend Functional Materials has announced that it plans to launch several new specialty polyamides at K 2019 in response to increasingly demanding customer demands. These new products include Pantech ® XHT, long chain polyamides and high temperature resistant polyamides.
Panda ® XHT is a new long acting high temperature resistant polyamide 66 (PA66) and derivative copolymer product portfolio, can withstand long-term working temperature of 230° C high temperature. By combining unique polymer chemistry with multistage thermal stabilization technology, XHT products push the limits of PA66's long-term high temperature resistance while maintaining the excellent processability, durability and mechanical properties for which PA66 is known.
" Consistent high temperature resistance is essential for engine cabin applications in order to accommodate the diverse loads, torsional forces and speeds in the engine." Mr. Vikram Gopal, Senior Vice President of Global Technology at Ascend, said, "We have developed Panda ® XHT is designed to help our customers achieve greater efficiency by expanding the processing window and meeting customer requirements despite the relatively limited processing conditions and performance deficiencies associated with using existing products."

Pand&REg; The XHT product family includes four fiberglass reinforced grade products that are ideal for demanding automotive applications such as intercoolers, integrated intake manifoles, exhaust gas recirculators and resonators. All XHT products offer excellent fluidity and are recyclable, allowing gate materials to be reprocessed to increase production efficiency.
Ascend will also introduce a new PA610 and PA612 long-chain polyamide portfolio. With low moisture absorption and excellent chemical and UV resistance, long-chain polyamides are suitable for a variety of applications, including monofilaments, battery seals, specialty cable ties, automotive cooling and fuel connection pipes, and sporting goods.
" We help our customers drive innovation and meet the growing needs of the industries they serve." "At the same time, we are further consolidating the vertical integration strategy of the PA66 value chain and are well positioned in the market to deliver products with increased reliability, functionality and flexibility in pursuit of innovation," said Phil McDivitt, Global President and CEO of Ascent.
The company has also developed a range of high temperature resistant polyamides with higher strength, rigidity, chemical resistance and high temperature resistance than existing market products, suitable for use in plastic instead of steel and automotive applications in high temperature environments.
We will be presenting our new products at K 2019 in Dusseldorf, Germany from October 16 to 23. We look forward to welcoming you to our booth (6A07).
