Blue plastic particles found in Bright Dairy milk, company says it was caused by friction during processing
Reporter Lu Zhilin reports: Bright Dairy has once again apologized to consumers for product problems. This time, the apology comes after a citizen reported that blue solid particles were found floating in the bright milk they bought. Yesterday, Guangming responded via its official Weibo account that it had received the same complaints from two consumers, and explained that the particles were caused by plastic bottle caps that were rubbed during processing.
One netizen wrote on Weibo: "When I buy milk today, as a Shanghai consumer, I usually choose Guangming. At first, I saw blue marks on the bottle and thought it was an exterior stain. After a closer look, it turned out that there were a lot of blue solid particles floating in the milk inside the bottle. I felt sick and was shocked!" The netizen also uploaded a number of pictures, trying to "have the picture and the truth".
On Friday, Bright Dairy responded on its official Weibo account, saying: "According to the investigation of our production department, consumers have reported that 1.5L of plastic drum fresh milk pure fresh milk has particulate matter. The product was produced by Shanghai Dairy No. 4 on October 17, 2012. At present, we have received two complaints from consumers with the same situation. We have immediately contacted the consumers to express our apologies and actively deal with the matter. We are investigating the cause of the blue particles."
And at 4:8 p.m. on the same day, the official Weibo account of Guangming again issued a statement explaining: "After further investigation and analysis, the cause of the particles in the plastic drum 1.5L pure fresh milk complained by two consumers has been identified, and it is the plastic bottle cap particles that are rubbed out during processing."
Over the past three months since June, Bright Dairy has had five consecutive product quality problems and apologized to the public three times. The most recent was on September 28, when Bright Dairy issued a letter of apology to Chinese consumers for a number of recent product quality incidents. But the apology still seems unable to prevent the recurrence of its quality incidents. Lu Zhilin
