EU terminates anti-dumping sunset review of Chinese PET products
Xinhua News Agency, Brussels, Feb. 7 (reporter Zhao Xiaona) The European Commission announced on the 7th that it terminated the anti-dumping sunset review of PET products imported from China.
The European Commission issued the decision in an official EU announcement on the same day. Since launching an anti-dumping sunset review investigation into Chinese PET products in November 2015, the EU trade watchdog has found no evidence that dumping damages would continue or re-emerge if the anti-dumping measures were ended, the EU said. Considering that the interests of the relevant industries in the EU will not be harmed, and the European PET Industry Association formally withdrew its application, the EU decided to terminate the sunset review.
In May 2003, the EU began an anti-dumping investigation of Chinese PET products. In August 2004, the EU formally decided to impose anti-dumping duties of up to 22.9%. In August 2009, the EU launched an anti-dumping sunset review investigation on Chinese PET products, and ruled in November 2010 to continue to levy anti-dumping duties for a period of 5 years.
PET is a thermoplastic material that is widely used in packaging, textile materials and engineering plastics.
