If these conditions occur in older adults, hearing loss may have occurred.

Hearing loss can bring many risks

Senile hearing loss is a general term that refers to the decline in hearing function of people aged 60 years and older due to aging, ear diseases, genetics, noise damage, ototoxic drugs, metabolic diseases, and bad lifestyle habits.

Many elderly people believe that it is normal for people to be deaf in old age. In fact, being deaf is not just a matter of hearing. Some elderly people gradually refuse to communicate with others because they cannot hear others clearly or need to be repeated many times, and they are afraid of misunderstanding others' meaning. Still others, due to serious hearing loss, can only see other people's lips moving, but can not hear what the other person is saying, inevitably suspect that others are talking about themselves, and thus become suspicious, irritable and irritable. Over time, the elderly may have a sense of loneliness, lead to anxiety, depression and other mental and psychological problems, and even cause social isolation.

In addition, hearing loss will also increase safety risks, such as not hearing the car horn on the road, and not avoiding in time to cause accidents. More and more studies have found that hearing loss is closely related to the decline of cognitive function in the elderly, and hearing protection is considered to be an important link to prevent Alzheimer's disease. In addition to the growth of age, hypertension, diabetes and other chronic diseases will also aggravate the hearing loss of the elderly, these patients should be particularly wary of hearing loss problems.

Self-test hearing can try these methods

Human ears can feel the frequency range of 20~20000 Hz, the frequency range of daily speech communication is generally 500~3000 Hz. Elderly hearing loss tends to first appear in the high frequency region, and gradually expand to the low and middle frequency range. The sound of mosquitoes and rubbing fingers is the common high-frequency sound, and the "buzzing" sound made by the refrigerator and the range hood when it is working is the low-frequency sound.

How do we know if our hearing is good or not? Here are some simple ways to test yourself on a daily basis.

Rub your thumb and index finger against your ear and listen carefully to hear the finger-twisting sound;

Put the watch (quartz watch or mechanical watch) in the ear, can hear the "ticking" sound when the second hand moves;
