Environmental plasticizer DOTP continuous process to achieve a new breakthrough

On August 15, the reporter learned from the Institute of Forestry Products and Chemical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Forestry that the key technology development project of continuous production of environmental plasticizer undertaken by the Jiangsu Provincial Society of Environmental Science passed the identification of the results. The expert group composed of academician Ouyang Pingkai and Academician Chen Yong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor Qiao Xu, President of Nanjing University of Technology, believes that the overall technical level of the project has reached the international advanced level, of which diisooctyl terephthalate (DOTP) continuous production technology has reached the international leading level. The adoption of this technology can reduce the energy consumption per unit product by more than 20% and shorten the production time by more than 10%.

Evaluation opinion shows that the results of oil, terephthalic acid and other raw materials, researchers from the existing process conditions, invented slurry pretreatment and composite catalytic new technology, innovative research and development of no plasticizer migration of reactive plasticizer, high flash point epoxy difatty acid methyl ester plasticizer and other environmentally friendly products. The first environment-friendly plasticizer DOTP continuous production of new technology, to solve the intermittent production process of high energy consumption, quality instability and other problems. The result has significant economic and environmental benefits, and has a good demonstration and promotion role for the development of environmental protection plasticizer industry.

According to reports, this new type of fluidized bed continuous synthesis DOTP process, the raw material slurry after the reaction, the reaction is full, the time is short, the energy consumption is low, and can achieve continuous production. The device in the continuous preparation process, including the reactor, in turn by the slurry tank, feed pump, reactor and other series composition, the reactor and circulating pump to form a closed loop, the reactor, oil-water separator, octanol tank, reflux pump and preheater together to form a closed loop, the material in the reactor through circulation instead of stirring to achieve uniform mixing, and reduce energy consumption. The pressure holding of the initial stage of the reaction is not higher than 0.3MPa, which is conducive to the reaction system entering the main reaction stage as soon as possible, quickly achieving the best reaction temperature and improving the reaction rate; The negative pressure at the later stage of the reaction transferred the reaction to the positive direction, and increased the isoctyl alcohol return flow rate and dehydration rate to improve the reaction rate.

It is understood that using the technical achievements, the project unit has built an annual output of 10,000 tons of environmentally friendly plasticizer continuous demonstration production line, to achieve the continuous production of DOTP, so that the energy consumption per unit product is reduced by more than 20%, the production time is shortened by more than 10%. The output of environmental protection plasticizer DOTP products to meet the industry standard and passed the SGS certification, in Jiangsu Shangshang cable Group, Jiangsu Dongfeng Cable Co., Ltd. and other enterprises after application, the effect is excellent. In addition, the project has also published 53 academic papers, of which 29 are indexed by SCI; 9 patents have been granted by the state, including 8 invention patents.

With the increasing public concern about health, more and more countries have issued bans on phthalic plasticizers. DOTP is a new environmentally friendly plasticizer with excellent performance, which can be widely used in various fields, especially in temperature resistant cables. And the raw material of DOTP terephthalic acid can be extracted from waste polyester such as waste mineral water bottles, which can reduce production costs, reduce environmental pollution and realize waste reuse.
