First all-plastic brake valve available for HVAC pressurized hot water systems
Global specialty polymer supplier Solvay announced that its high-performance Radel polyphenylene sulfone (PPSU) polymer has helped China's Cixi Zhenpeng Electric Appliance Co., Ltd. successfully replace traditional brass products in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) pressurized hot water systems by developing a new all-plastic valve product line.
Solvay's high performance Radel polyphenylene sulfone polymer has helped Zhenpeng replace traditional brass products by developing a new line of all-plastic valves
Among the new products introduced by Zhenpeng is the industry's first all-PPSU brake valve. The IAMPO test results show that the product meets ASME A112.18.1-2012 and CSA B125.1-12 standards.
" The use of brass in drinking water and HVAC system fittings has been restricted by increasingly stringent global regulatory requirements. Leading innovators, including Cixi Zhenpeng, are increasingly recognizing the value of Solvay's more than 30 years of experience in specialty polymer technology in this sector, "said Philippe Jacques Leng, Global Construction Market Manager, Solvit Polymer's Global Business Unit. "Zhenpeng's innovative full PPSU brake valves do not simply reduce the use of heavy metals in such products, but completely eliminate them, providing customers with a safer and more reliable alternative for system integration."
In addition to helping Zhenpeng develop full PPSU brakes, Solvay's high-performance polymers have also contributed to the development of patented single-piece ball valves, stem designs, semi-spherical valves, L and T valves.
Radel PPSU enables new PPSU products to be corrosion-free, reliable and long-lived throughout the life cycle of today's HVAC systems. Zhenpeng's all-plastic valves and fittings are now available in the United States and will be available in the European market in the near future.
Solvay Radel PPSU has good fatigue resistance, excellent chemical resistance and high impact strength. The long-term hydrostatic strength (LTHS) ranks first among all sulfone polymers. It is especially suitable for the joint of multi-layer pipe systems at high pressures of up to 10b and 95°. C high temperature (203° F) can be used for up to 50 years.
