Haikou, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Hainan provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued the regulations on banning disposable non-degradable plastic products in the Hainan Special Economic Zone on Feb. 10, requiring the production, transportation, sale, storage and use of disposable non-degradable plastic bags, plastic tableware and other plastic products to be banned from Dec. 1, 2020.

Regulations a total of thirty, including the list of banned plastic, replacement of the whole process traceability system, local standards and a series of systems, the division of responsibility for the prohibition of plastic work, the scope of prohibited disposable non-degradable plastic products, alternative product supply, circulation supervision measures, penalties for illegal acts and the scope of legal application made clear requirements. At the same time, it also clearly stipulates the preferential policies of the replacement industry, public publicity and education, and the recycling of waste plastic products.

Hainan will ban the production, sale and use of disposable non-degradable plastic bags and plastic tableware from December 1, 2020, according to the previously issued implementation Plan of Hainan Province to completely ban the production, sale and use of disposable non-degradable plastic products. By the end of 2025, Hainan will completely ban the production, sale and use of all plastic products listed in the Hainan plastic Ban list.
