Hong Kong holds "Ocean Roar" exhibition to use plastic waste to pay attention to environmental protection

The highlight of the exhibition, "Nightmare of the Ocean", is made up of plastic waste collected from the North Sea, Hawaii, the Baltic Sea and beaches around the world.

International online news (Reporter Ding Yiming) : Hong Kong is a seaport city, the health of the Marine ecology is closely related to the fate of the city. In order to arouse people's attention to the oceans on which they depend, the Hong Kong Science Museum will launch a special exhibition "Ocean Rage - Plastic Waste Awareness Project" from November 27 to February 17, 2016. The exhibition will display a series of artworks made from plastic waste in a highly creative form, hoping to spark discussion on how plastic waste harms the entire Marine ecosystem.

This exhibition is a fusion of science and art. The key exhibit symbolizing the ecological disaster, "The Nightmare of the Sea", allows visitors to trace the source, life cycle and existence of these plastic products from a pile of plastic waste collected from the North Sea, Hawaii, the Baltic Sea and beaches around the world, to show the ecological disaster with strong visual effects, arousing visitors' attention. Among other exhibits, "Plastic in the Ocean" examines the devastating impact of plastic on the oceans, animals and humans; "Everyday Plastics" explains the chemical composition, sorting and recycling processes of various plastic products, and analyzes ways to reduce the amount of plastic thrown away. In addition, the exhibition includes video programs and interactive exhibits on the chemical composition of plastic products and the threats they pose to the planet.

At the opening ceremony on Sunday, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Amy Hom Lee, said the exhibition aims to raise public awareness of Marine plastic pollution. The public can build a sustainable environment by making small changes in their daily lives, using plastics more prudently, creating less waste, recycling and recycling consumer goods, and reflecting on consumption patterns.
