Indonesia's East Java province is in a bit of a funk these days after a new study reported that its longest river, the Blantas River, has been dubbed the "Diaper River" by the media. It turned out that all kinds of plastic waste from the baby diaper River had been dumped into Hanoi for a long time, and 80% of the fish in the river were detected to contain tiny plastic fibers unique to baby disposable diapers. Experts predict this could put the health of up to three million people in the river basin at risk.
