Kraussmaffei expands PX series full motor production capacity

Supported by "huge demand", the Kraussmaffei Group is increasing the production capacity of its PX series full electric injection molding machines.

The Munich-based supplier of injection molding machinery said the series has been a "phenomenal success" since its launch two years ago at K2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany. "Our customers appreciate the high precision and flexibility in configuration, production and modification," explains Hans Ulrich Golz, President of the Injection Molding machine business at Kraussmaffei.

In order to meet the demand for machines, Kraussmaffei has doubled part of the production capacity of the PX series at the Sucany production site in Slovakia, which is currently being produced under a double shift production schedule.

Kraussmaffei held 25 live demonstrations in June to celebrate 180 years of its innovative technology

The company also plans to produce the machines at its production site in Munich.

In addition to the increase in production capacity, Kraussmaffei also announced that it would acquire Plamag, a company based in Plauen, Germany, which has been producing important components for the new PX series since mid-2017 and oversees the parts business.

The all-electric PX series is currently available in five different sizes with a mode-locking force of between 500 and 2,000 kN.

The company has recently expanded the range with the new, compact PX 25, which has a clamping force of only 250kN, while the PX 320 has a clamping force of 3,200kN, making it the company's largest all-electric injection molding machine to date. The first public appearance of the new machine size was at Kraussmaffei's Competence Forum event in June.

At the Fakuma 2018 trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, from October 16 to 20, Kraussmaffei will be on display at both the PX 25 and PX 320.
