Kraussmaffei unveils new multi-component mixing head
On June 6, 2018 in Munich, Kraussmaffei presented a rapidly changing multi-component mixing head that has a remarkable effect on both large and small colors.
The company says its MK 10/15-UVP-2K+4 multicolor mixing head allows up to four colors to enter the mixing chamber directly and be measured independently of each other.
Colors are separated but can be switched for use at any time in the mixing head. The company says this means users can save time switching colors in actual production.
The company's head of mechanical development for reaction processes, Sebast, says the mixing head is suitable for the challenges faced by polyurethane manufacturing machines producing relatively small numbers of parts with different colors.
The new mixing head allows the color to be changed between injections without interrupting production. This improves flexibility and productivity in production, the company adds.
In the mixing head, the polyol component is divided into two parts and introduced into the mixing chamber through two nozzles. Two different dyes can be introduced at each polyol nozzle. All lines are metered at the same time, the company says, so no dye is left behind between injections. The company added that the instruments can measure dye at a relatively low pressure.
