Meikai launched a new type of mixer with built-in extrusion control interface

The new mixer, which provides extrusion control based on batch accuracy and metering accuracy, can be connected to monitoring systems that control the entire production line and has proven effective in blown and cast film, sheet, tube and profile, as well as wire and cable applications.

The new WXBTM Gravity extrusion mixer from Meikai Products Co., Ltd. includes a weight gain (GIW) gravity weighing and Weight loss (LIW) mixing chamber, which are assembled in a single unit equipped with Maguire® 4088 controller in the machine. When the weight gain scale accurately measures the components into the weighing bucket in batches, the weightless mixing chamber can accurately measure how much material from the mixer into the forming machine, and help control extrusion and traction according to process variables. The mixer can achieve strict tolerances (+/ -0.1% or less, which is the key to saving raw materials.

4088 controller is Mei Kai's most advanced mixer controller, Designed for communication with other systems in an industry 4.0 environment. It enables the WXB mixer to connect with the Maguire + SyncroTM monitoring system, enabling control of all parts of the production line through a single touch screen HMI control. For example, in blown film production, the system controls extruder temperature, feedstock metering and consumption data, air ring automation, metering, internal bubble cooling, mesh and cage handling, traction and winding machines. This system can be used for multiple extruders to perform co-extrusion.

The Maguire + Syncro brand is the product of a collaboration between Meikai and SYNCRO srl, which began investing in SYNCRO in 2016. "This partnership comes from Meikai's experience with material handling and mixing systems and SYNCRO's experience with control systems for a wide range of extrusion applications," said Frank Kavanagh, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Meikai. "It allows us to offer our customers turnkey control systems that cover virtually any type of extrusion operation."

Maguire + Syncro control displays allow users to easily visualize single-layer and co-extrusion processes. Available extrusion control modes include how many pounds or kilograms per hour, the weight of each stage of extrusion, and product micron thickness.

Originally, the WXB mixer was available in three models: The WXB 100 was suitable for mixing volumes up to 100-220 lb/h (50-100 kg/h); The WXB 200 is suitable for mixing up to 220-440 lb/h (100-200 kg/h); The WXB 400 is suitable for blends up to 440-880 lb/h (200-400 kg/h). The mixer can handle up to 12 ingredients, each with its own dispensing valve. The WXB mixer is compact and includes safety handling guards. The mixing chamber is easy to remove for quick cleaning. All of Meikai's loading system options are integrated into the controller.
