Shopping receipts may increase the risk of cancer in the fetus
According to Xinhua News Agency, A report released by the French National Health Safety Agency on the 9th pointed out that bisphenol A is a potential health hazard, especially pregnant women and people who often come into contact with thermal paper containing bisphenol A, such as cashiers, should pay attention.
The endocrine disruptor, which can be absorbed through diet, breathing and skin contact, may cause changes in the structure of the baby's mammary glands in pregnant women, increasing the risk of future tumors, the report said. In addition, BPA is often added to thermal paper such as shopping receipts and bank card receipts, and cashiers and other people who have long-term exposure to such paper should be vigilant, the report said.
French Environment Minister Delphine Barto issued A communique on the same day that in order to further prevent the potential harm of bisphenol A, France will submit a proposal to the European Commission in the next few months to ban the use of bisphenol A in thermal paper.
Bisphenol A is a chemical widely used in the manufacture of plastics and is often found in plastic containers and packaging such as baby bottles and beverage bottles. France's National Agency for Health Safety had questioned the safety of BPA in 2011. In December, France enacted A law on the suspension of the production, import, export and sale of all food packaging containing BPA, banning its use in food containers intended for children under the age of three from 2013, and in all packaging that comes into direct contact with food from 2015.
