Should hospitals provide medicine bags? Industry insiders: Hospitals do face difficulties

Our news (reporter Huang Huixian Shen Xuyu) "Why can't the hospital provide bags with medicine? Paid use I can also accept..." Recently, Mr. Jin, a resident of Hangzhou, had a difficult time carrying four boxes of medicine at a Grade-Three provincial hospital. Small bottles of medicine could be stuffed in a carry-on bag, but the large box of medicine could only be held by hand, which made it inconvenient for him to come to the hospital by bike.

Should the hospital provide the patient with the bag of medicine? Is there a better solution to the inconvenience caused by the patient's medical treatment? Recently, the reporter launched an investigation on this.

At 11 o 'clock at noon, when the reporter came to the dispensing window of the first Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, the patients waiting for medicine have lined up in a long line. The reporter saw at the scene that these Windows were not equipped with plastic bags when dispensing drugs.

"Took my mother to match some cardiovascular drugs, but came out in a hurry in the morning, only carrying a small bag, so many drugs can not be loaded, had to let my mother find breakfast plastic bags to pack." At the scene, Ms. Hu, who had just finished the medicine, was holding 8 boxes of medicine, 4 small bottles of tablets, and four or five inspection lists between her fingers. But the plastic bag that Ms. Hu's mother found was too small. She had just filled one or two boxes of medicine. When she shook her hand, the remaining boxes of medicine fell to the ground with a "crash". The reporter observed a number of rows of medicine teams found that most patients carrying bags of different sizes or carrying bags, after getting the drugs, they were quickly loaded into them, but some patients with only a small bag, especially with more drugs patients, it is very inconvenient.

Then, whether the dispensing window of other hospitals will issue medicine bags?

After visiting several hospitals in Hangzhou, the reporter found that most of the dispensing Windows of hospitals do not issue plastic bags when dispensing drugs, nor do they provide paid purchase services, but there are also some provincial hospitals and some hospitals can receive plastic bags in the window of the Chinese herbal medicine room, so that patients can fill medicine.

"2008" after the release of the plastic limit order, the hospital had stopped using plastic bags for a period of time, but later many patients reflected that it was inconvenient to get medicine, so they were equipped with degradable plastic bags for bidding." Provincial people's hospital dispensing window staff said. The hospital has two types of plastic bags in different sizes, and the staff will allocate the plastic bags according to the number of drugs taken by patients and the volume of drugs.

In addition, the reporter learned that in several community health service centers in Jianggan District and Gongshu district of Hangzhou, pharmacies are not equipped with plastic bags when dispensing drugs, but some community health service centers will still provide them when patients ask for them.

For the problem of whether the hospital dispensing window should provide medicine bags, how do the patients who come to take medicine look at it?

In Hangzhou Children's Hospital, Ms. Huang from Anhui Province, with two children, walked to the window with six or seven boxes of medicine to check. "When the quantity of medicine is small, the problem is not big; When the quantity of medicine is large, it will be much more convenient if the hospital can provide bags." Ms. Huang said she understood that hospitals did not provide plastic bags, but it would be better if hospitals allowed patients to decide for themselves whether they needed to buy bags. "When I bring my children to the hospital, they are often very anxious. Sometimes there are too many medicines and the children are crying.

In the interview, some insiders said that between the environmental protection appeal and the convenience of patients, the hospital does have difficulties. Taking a provincial top three hospital with more than 4 million emergency visits a year as an example, according to the plastic bag issued by a patient, each plastic bag is 2 grams, the plastic bag issued by the hospital weighs 8 tons a year. However, for many patients, especially young patients, often do not have the habit of carrying large bags, once the doctor is equipped with more drugs, they will be "scrambling", nowhere to properly place drugs, and even there will be drug loss, damage and other situations, there are a lot of inconvenience.

In this regard, many patients in the visit proposed, whether the hospital can provide plastic bags or environmental bags in the dispensing window or fixed counter paid use option, in order to reduce the problem of patients' drugs "nowhere to place".
