The 7th Xiamen Marine Environment Open Science Conference (XMAS2025)
The 7th Xiamen Open Science Conference on Marine Environment
In order to promote interdisciplinary research in marine environmental science and cultivate the next generation of marine scientists, the State Key Laboratory of Coastal Marine Environmental Sciences (Xiamen University) initiated the Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Conference (XMAS) in 2014. It has now become one of the largest international academic conferences on marine science in Asia and an important platform for global and regional marine research exchanges.
The 7th Xiamen Open Science Conference on Marine Environment (XMAS2025) will be held in the beautiful coastal city of Xiamen from January 14 to 17, 2025, with the theme of "Technological Change to Promote Sustainable Development of the Ocean". The conference will bring together the world's top scientists and researchers to share the latest research progress in the field of marine science and explore the challenges and solutions facing the global marine environment.
XMAS2025 will be a dynamic and interdisciplinary exchange platform with 70 academic sessions, 2 seminars and 6 workshops.
70 academic topics
The content will cover the core areas of marine science, including physical, chemical and biological oceanography, marine pollution, and interdisciplinary approaches required to address urgent marine environmental challenges, showcasing cutting-edge research and innovative solutions. The conference will discuss topics related to global and regional oceans, including extreme weather events, marine biogeochemical cycles, marine hypoxia, microbial activities, ecological and socioeconomic benefits of marine protected areas, and the impact of human activities such as plastic pollution. It aims to deepen the understanding of the ocean and climate system through exchanges and discussions, while promoting sustainable solutions.
2 seminars + 6 workshops
Discussions and exchanges will be held in the areas of paper writing and submission, female scientist salons, education and science communication, and regional marine ecosystem research.
The conference will set up awards for outstanding student reports, funding for young scholars, Mentor-Mentee mentoring programs, and a series of popular science activities.
The deadline for abstract submission is September 20, 2024.
