The Reifenhauscher Group introduces a new technology for the production of single-material films

Reifenhauscher shares Bruckner Machinery's view that single-material packaging films are more sustainable.

Packaging film is usually composed of PET and PE laminated composite materials. The addition of PET can make the film have enough stiffness to facilitate post-processing, which is more difficult to use PE alone. However, this composite material cannot be recycled.

Leifenhauscher will be showcasing its innovative solutions for processing PE at this year's 2019K with its famous EVO Ultra Stretch. The film stretching system (MDO) has already been successfully used in breathable backing film factories in the hygiene industry.

According to the presentation, the positioning of the MDO in the traction device is a key factor, and the advantage is that the plastic can be stretched to a degree of 4 to 6 times using the initial heat. Due to the long cooling channel, the process stability is high and the shrinkage is small. The produced film can be recycled and has a good sealing performance, making it a sustainable alternative to PET. The simple heat-sealing properties of the

film also significantly improve the efficiency of subsequent post-treatment processes, as it can be further processed on existing post-treatment equipment without the need for adjustments.

Reifenhauscher applied the EVO Ultra Stretch to a single material laminated film, providing users with an environmentally friendly and economical high-performance alternative in packaging production. In addition, component investment costs are significantly lower compared to conventional film stretching systems, and energy consumption levels are lower due to the utilization of initial heat.
