special "tour" and a group of special visitors prove the charm of CIIE

Every day, the CIIE pavilion will close at around 6 pm, taking a short break to prepare for the next day's visitors, which has been the case for the past five years. On November 5, the first day of the 6th CIIE, the "Four-Leaf Clover" was still brightly lit after nightfall, welcoming a group of special visitors.

At 7:30 pm, for visitors from all over the world who gathered in Shanghai because of the CIIE, it was a good opportunity to fully experience this vibrant city. But at this moment, more than 160 executives from nearly 100 multinational companies from 18 countries around the world gave up the bustling Bund and chose to stay in the "Four-Leaf Clover" that had been closed.

Exhibitor Keizo Takeo:This is my third time here, and to be honest, I have never had the opportunity to see the entire pavilion.

Exhibitor Roy:I was too busy last year, and I only saw half of the pavilion. As exporters who want to enter China, they can have time to deeply understand the needs of the industry and establish good cooperative relations with distributors.

For these busy global executives, a complete tour of the "Four Leaf Clover" is what they have always looked forward to. Because of everyone's enthusiasm, the CIIE Bureau held such a special "tour" for the first time in six years.

Exhibitor Gustav Salford:I am very much looking forward to the entire exhibition, including companies from all over the world and different products and ideas.

Exhibitor Hu Kaicheng:I am very excited. We are an American company in the energy industry, and tonight is also a great opportunity for many international entrepreneurs and companies to meet with Chinese partners to establish more relationships and international trade opportunities.

It was almost 8 o'clock when the tour began. On the sightseeing bus, the reporter met Hu Kaicheng, who had just met. In the same car with him was Stephen Kehoe, the global executive vice president of PepsiCo. This is the first time that PepsiCo has appeared at the CIIE. I thought he would be relatively unfamiliar with the venue, but when he arrived at the first stop, the Food Pavilion, Stephen suddenly became excited.

Reporter:Is this the pavilion where your company is located?

Exhibitor Stephen Kehoe:Yes, you got it right. You should stay at the booth and I will show you around. You should come and see it.

Reporter:Besides you, there are a lot of American companies at this CIIE, right?

Exhibitor Stephen Kehoe:Yes, our country accounts for one-sixth (of the exhibition area), and we will have our own chef on site tomorrow.

Exhibitor Hu Kaicheng:So is there any special time for me to join this food tour?

Exhibitor Stephen Kehoe:Come at two o'clock, I'll be there.

The topic started with food. During the one-hour tour of the exhibition hall, two executives who had never met before and whose industries were completely different chatted enthusiastically all the way. One said that China has proposed the "dual carbon" goal, and his company should develop recyclable plastic bottles, which can reduce carbon emissions by 41%. The other will also discuss the green transformation of energy, which has great potential in the Chinese market.

Reporter:Are you interested in other products exhibited here?

Exhibitor Hu Kaicheng:The energy industry is a very complex industry. We need so many partners and technologies to make everything work. In fact, these are not competitors, but our potential technical partners.

When they see exhibits from their own country, they will take the initiative to introduce them to each other, and when they see exhibits that interest them, they will take photos together. At the end of the chat, the two even added each other on WeChat, which is a new skill they learned after coming to China.

Exhibitor Hu Kaicheng:We met for the first time today, and we found that we have both been in China for 42 years. Everyone is here for the same reason, and this is a great platform for cooperation between all international companies and Chinese partners.

Exhibitor Stephen Kehoe:This is a place for people to get together, connect with each other, and think about new ideas, new products, and new services. You can bring it to this country, and maybe to the rest of the world.

Exhibitor Gustav Salford:I am still very energetic, because everything I did today, including meeting new people and seeing new things, was full of energy. I can't wait to experience it again tomorrow (if possible).

The tour ended, it was past 10 pm, and there were still many executives on site who had not left. This is the charm of the CIIE. We open our doors to welcome visitors from all over the world; we build a platform for companies from different countries and industries to communicate and cooperate, so that the benefits of development can be deeper and farther.
