PBAT - Poly (butyleneadipateco-terephthalate); abbreviated as PBAT, belongs to thermoplastic biodegradable plastics. It is a copolymer prepared by direct esterification or transesterification with butylene adipate (PBA) and butylene terephthalate (PBT) as raw materials.
It has the characteristics of both PBA and PBT, with good ductility and elongation at break, as well as good heat resistance and impact resistance. In addition, PBAT also has excellent biodegradability and is one of the most active biodegradable materials in the current research of biodegradable plastics and the best market application. The demand and production capacity of PBAT are the third largest biodegradable plastics after starch-based plastics and PLA (polylactic acid).
From an environmental perspective, PBAT can be modified with degradable materials and inorganic fillers to improve processing performance and reduce production costs, meet various application requirements, and broaden its scope of use and related fields. PBAT is a copolymer of aliphatic and aromatic polyesters, which combines the excellent degradation properties of aliphatic polyesters and the good mechanical properties of aromatic polyesters. The processing properties of PBAT are very similar to those of LDPE, and film blowing can be performed using LDPE processing equipment.
