After two or more reactive low-viscosity liquids are uniformly mixed in a certain proportion under certain pressure and temperature conditions, they are immediately injected into a closed molding mold. After further reaction in the mold, the molding reaction process of forming a plastic product is called reaction injection molding.
The characteristics of reaction injection molding are as follows:
¢Ù The pressure inside the molding mold of reaction injection molding is relatively low (generally 0.2-7MPa), so the clamping force is not large, so the mold can be made of aluminum alloy and can form large-area parts.
¢Ú Various parts with complex structures and shapes (including ribs, bosses, notches and ears) can be injection molded without generating internal stress.
¢Û The viscosity of the liquid reaction component is relatively low, and it is easy to fill the mold, which is very suitable for molding thin-walled parts or large thick-walled products, and can also mold products with metal inserts.
¢Ü Since the molding process is accompanied by chemical reactions, the mold must have a good exhaust channel to avoid the formation of pores in the product.
¢Ý The shrinkage rate of reaction molded products is relatively large, so a pressure-maintaining and shrinkage-compensating device should be provided.
¢Þ The raw material conditions for reaction injection molded products are relatively high. The requirements for the (RIM) molding process conditions of several commonly used raw materials are shown in the table below.
