China Hotel Association, China Tourism Hotel Association, China Circular Economy Association and China Consumers Association today jointly released an initiative on reducing the use of single-use plastic products in the accommodation industry: Promote the reduction of the source of use and effectively control plastic pollution.

Plastic pollution control is related to the health of the people, the construction of ecological civilization and high-quality development. In order to earnestly implement the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and The State Council on strengthening plastic pollution control, and fully implement the Opinions of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the National Development and Reform Commission on Further Strengthening plastic pollution Control, "By the end of 2022, star-rated hotels, hotels and other places in China will no longer take the initiative to provide disposable plastic products; By the end of 2025, the scope of implementation will be expanded to all hotels, hotels, homestays and other requirements, and the accommodation industry will be guided to participate in the control of plastic pollution. Under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we have issued the following proposals to Chinese accommodation enterprises (including hotels, hotels, restaurants, homestays, etc.) :

1. Deeply understand the social responsibility of the accommodation industry in the control of plastic pollution, and attach great importance to the control of plastic pollution. In the management and operation, the specific requirements of the relevant national and local policy documents and the "Green Hotel" national standard and "Green Tourism Hotel" industry standard for the treatment of plastic pollution in accommodation enterprises should be fully implemented.

Two, accommodation enterprises should actively implement the national and local plastic pollution control policy on the prohibition of disposable plastic products management provisions. Among them, star hotels, hotels and other places should no longer take the initiative to provide disposable plastic products, mainly including disposable plastic combs, toothbrushes, razors, shower caps, small washing care containers (such as bath bottles, shampoo bottles, moisturizer bottles), etc., can be provided by setting up cleaning products service desk, self-service purchase machine, providing refills and other ways to provide relevant services; Non-star hotels, hotels and other places should take the initiative to firmly promote the work of not actively providing disposable plastic supplies.

Third, accommodation enterprises should strengthen publicity, through the front office, rooms, restaurants and other customer service areas and enterprise online display, sales platform to set up publicity columns, encourage and guide consumers to use environmental protection, recyclable products, reduce the use of disposable plastic products, advocate green consumption, and promote the accommodation industry plastic pollution control to achieve better results.

Four, the accommodation industry online booking platform business enterprises, through the page reminder, pop-up prompts and other forms, encourage and guide consumers to carry personal care products, reduce the use of disposable plastic products, and strengthen the supervision and management of the platform merchants, guide merchants on the online display page to carry out their own plastic reduction actions for publicity and display, accept social supervision.

Five, China and local accommodation related industry associations should strengthen policy standards and corporate education and training, establish a number of plastic reduction enterprise excellent cases in the industry to promote, mining and implementation of a number of disposable plastic alternative products and green business models.
