Guangzhou creates star-level waste collection points with cashback for waste classification and recycling
As one of the first batch of China's waste classification pilot cities in China, Guangzhou's garbage classification started earlier. In order to further improve the garbage classification rate, many communities have come up with ways to establish resource recycling systems and create star-rated garbage classification points, standardize management, provide intimate services, and enhance community happiness.
In Guangjiu community, Baiyun Street, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, resident Miss Wu is preparing to take her old clothes to the resource recycling system for recycling. She said that in the past, places that recycled old clothes only recycled them and did not pay residents the corresponding amount. Now the recycling system is different, she said. After the mobile phone scans the code and puts it out, there are surprises immediately.
The current recycling system covers old clothes, waste wood, plastic bottles, waste glass and other low-value recyclable waste.
The recycling system is also equipped with an enzyme machine that recyles fruit peels and vegetable leaves to make enzymes used as fertilizer and cleaning agents.
After the resource recycling system was installed in Baiyun Street, residents received cash rewards for recycling and had a higher incentive to sort their waste. The amount of garbage on the street has also been reduced, by 23 percent compared to last year.
In Dingfeng community of Huangpu District, residents were initially reluctant to set up garbage sorting sites near their homes at regular and incorrect times.
However, residents' attitudes changed after the incorporation of bucket sites and greenery into the landscape and the provision of washbasins, hand sanitizer, toilet paper and other supporting services.
At present, the Guangzhou urban management department is piloting the creation of such a star-rated household garbage classification drop point in various districts, and there are detailed management norms, including reasonable location, coordination with the environment, facilities to be supported by high standards, non-slip facilities, lighting drainage, ventilation and deodorization, supporting hand-washing equipment, reminders; There should be special personnel on duty, regular disinfection and so on.
