It is said that bottled water commonly used at home may cause cancer. Cheap and multi-purpose medical waste

China News Service, April 19 (Life Channel Chen Long) As the temperature rises, people's demand for water has increased. However, the "quality gate" of water caused by Nongfu Spring has intensified recently, and has gradually shifted from bottled water to barreled water that is often available at home. Recently, some netizens posted questions about the safety of barreled water, saying that there are four major problems. Some netizens even said that the taste of barreled water that has been opened for a few days seems to be different from when it was just drunk. The transition between spring and summer is a high-incidence period for health diseases, and "diseases enter the body through the mouth" has also become the focus of everyone's attention.

The water quality issues caused by Nongfu Spring continue to ferment on the Internet. Recently, some netizens posted questions about the possibility of carcinogenicity in barreled water commonly used at home, and even said that the content of the posts was written by Zhang Hong, a doctor of medicine at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health. However, a reporter from China News Service's Life Channel found through Baidu that Dr. Zhang Hong should be the deputy chief physician and deputy section chief of the Chaoyang District Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Beijing. As of press time, the phone number of Dr. Zhang Hong's institution has not been connected. In this regard, the reporter of China News Service Life Channel specially interviewed Dong Jinshi, executive vice president and secretary general of the International Food Packaging Association, to reveal the inside story of various doubts about bottled water.

Suspicion 1. The barrels of cheap bottled water are mostly made of medical waste plastics, which contain carcinogens!

As the saying goes, "cheap goods are not good, and good goods are not cheap." For the bottled drinking water that we must have at home in our daily life, the quality of the barrels of low-priced bottled water is really made of medical waste, which can cause cancer? In this regard, the reporter of China News Service Life Channel visited many water stations in Beijing and found that there is a lot of knowledge in it.

"Generally, most of the bottled water below 6 yuan has problems." said the owner of a water station near Xuanwu Hospital in Xicheng District, Beijing. "The volume of a bottled water is usually 5 gallons, or 18.9 liters, and its cost is about 4 yuan. If the delivery fee is included, the price below 6 yuan must be problematic." But the water station owner was reluctant to talk about whether it was a problem with the barrel or the water.

"If the barrels of the common barreled water we use are mostly made of PC (polycarbonate) material, while the material used to make bottled water is usually PET. Compared with PET, PC material is harder, so it is suitable for barreled water." Dong Jinshi, executive vice president and secretary general of the International Food Packaging Association, explained in an exclusive interview with China News Service Life Channel.

As for the statement that "cheap barrels of bottled water are mostly made of medical waste plastics and contain carcinogens", Vice President Dong Jinshi said: "Legally speaking, waste plastics are not allowed to be used in the production of barrels, but at present, the national testing mechanism has problems such as missing, loopholes, and duplications in the drinking water packaging standards, and there may be "problem barrels" that pass the test, so some bad companies are using waste materials. The testing problem needs to be solved urgently."

At the same time, Vice President Dong Jinshi also reminded consumers that they should pay attention to the following issues when choosing bottled water in daily life.

First of all, the bottom of the bottled water should have relevant information about the manufacturer. The companies that make the barrels are all certified and approved by the relevant national departments. According to the requirements, the company information must be printed on the bottom of the barrel. If consumers find that there is no company information at the bottom when purchasing, they must not buy it.

Secondly, after ensuring that the company information is available, look at the appearance of the bucket. The appearance of the genuine barrel is transparent and smooth, the barrel body is uniform, the color is light blue or white, the surface of the barrel is free of impurities and black spots, the sound of knocking on the barrel wall with fingers is crisp, and the toughness is strong; while the appearance of the fake barrel is uneven in color, the transparency is poor, the barrel wall has impurities and many black spots, the sound of knocking on the barrel wall with fingers is dull, and it is easy to crack and deform after repeated use.

At the same time, consumers should keep in mind that barrels for bottled water also have a shelf life of two years. If it exceeds the shelf life, do not buy it. 1

Suspicion 2: Hydrogen peroxide is used to disinfect the water bucket. If it is not rinsed clean, it may cause cancer!

For reusable barreled water buckets, the issue of disinfection after use has always been a concern. In this regard, Vice President Dong Jinshi said: "In China, water bucket disinfection generally adopts two methods: chemical and physical. Chemical methods are hydrogen peroxide and ozone disinfection, and physical methods are more common, such as ultraviolet disinfection, high temperature disinfection, and steam disinfection. In recent years, the state recommends that companies use steam disinfection because there are no residual substances. If chemical methods are used for disinfection, it is easy to produce nitrate residues, which will cause certain harm to the human body. However, steam disinfection also has disadvantages. After the bottled water is filled, its bacterial detection is often prone to exceed the standard. Therefore, in order to ensure the qualified rate of the number of bacterial tests after filling, some companies will add a little ozone to it. Once again, remind consumers not to drink the bottled water when it is just bought. Let it sit for a while and wait for the ozone to evaporate before drinking it."

Suspicion 3. Bottled water is acidic water. All cancer people have acidic constitutions!

According to Vice President Dong Jinshi, the pH value of bottled water currently sold in the Beijing market is usually around 6, which is acidic water, but the acidity and alkalinity of the water will not cause too much harm to the human body.

According to People's Daily Online, Professor Xie Yingbiao of Nanjing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital said, "The normal regulation of human body pH is maintained through the regulation of blood, breathing and kidneys to maintain the body's acid-base balance. In the human body, acid and alkali are always in a state of dynamic balance. The human body will continuously ingest and produce acidic and alkaline substances during metabolism. Under normal circumstances, the concentration of acid and alkaline substances in the body is constantly changing, but the human body will adjust itself in time. The concentration of human gastric acid is very high, but the pH in the blood remains within the normal range, which proves that most normal people have the ability to regulate themselves. Therefore, there is no need to pay too much attention to the pH of food. Even if you eat more acidic or alkaline food on a certain day or at a certain meal, it will not cause much impact and will not cause much hindrance to your health."

Question 4. 24 hours after the bottled water is opened, the amount of viruses and nitrites increases significantly!

Does bottled water have a shelf life? If so, how long is the shelf life? "Bottled water must have a shelf life, and it must be marked on the bottled water. Generally, the shelf life of unopened bottled water is 60 days, and it is recommended to drink it within 7 days after opening." Vice President Dong Jinshi explained.

As for the fact that the number of viruses, bacteria, and nitrite in the barreled water increases significantly 24 hours after opening, Vice President Dong Jinshi believes that it is an exaggeration. "The relevant Chinese departments have conducted experiments. The number of bacteria in bottled water will increase significantly after 7 days of opening. After 10 days, it will be completely excessive and cannot be drunk. Therefore, it is recommended that everyone drink it within 7 days after opening. Try not to drink it after 7 days."

In addition, according to the Nanjing Morning Post, there is no national standard for the shelf life of drinking water. Relevant experts from the Nanjing Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute said that there is currently no national standard for the shelf life of bottled drinking water after opening. In fact, there is no standard for the shelf life before opening. If there is a problem with the bottled water within the shelf life marked by each company, the company shall bear the responsibility.
