Among the major energy products of industrial enterprises above designated size, oil, gas and electricity all maintained growth in September, except for a slight decline in raw coal production, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on the 18th. Taking September 2019 as the base period, the two-year average growth rate of raw coal production declined, crude oil production grew steadily, and natural gas and electric power production grew rapidly.

Raw coal production decreased slightly. In September, 330 million tons of raw coal was produced, down 0.9 percent year on year and 1.8 percent lower than the same period in 2019. The two-year average was down 0.9 percent, with an average daily output of 11.14 million tons. Coal imports totaled 32.88 million tons, up 76.0 percent year on year.

1— In September, 2.93 billion tons of raw coal was produced, up 3.7 percent year on year, 3.6 percent higher than the same period in 2019, and a two-year average increase of 1.8 percent; And imported 230.4 million tons of coal, down 3.6 percent year on year.

Port coal composite transaction price rose. On September 24, the comprehensive trading prices of 5,500 kcal, 5,000 kcal and 4,500 kcal thermal coal at Qinhuangdao Port were 1,079 yuan, 980 yuan and 857 yuan per ton, respectively, up 194 yuan, 182 yuan and 151 yuan from August 27.

Crude oil production accelerated slightly, and the processing volume continued to decline. In September, 16.61 million tons of crude oil were produced, up 3.2 percent year-on-year, 0.9 percentage points faster than the previous month, 5.7 percent higher than the same period in 2019 and 2.8 percent higher than the two-year average, with an average daily output of 554,000 tons. And processed 56.07 million tons of crude oil, down 2.6 percent year-on-year, down 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, down 1.3 percent from the same period in 2019, and down 0.7 percent on average for two years, with an average daily processing of 1.869 million tons.

1— In September, 149.84 million tons of crude oil were produced, up 2.5 percent year-on-year and 4.3 percent over the same period in 2019, with a two-year average growth of 2.1 percent; And 526.87 million tons of processed crude oil, up 6.2 percent year-on-year and 9.4 percent over the same period in 2019, with a two-year average increase of 4.6 percent.

The decline in crude oil imports widened, and international crude oil prices rose. In September, 41.05 million tons of crude oil were imported, down 15.3 percent year on year, or 9.1 percentage points higher than the previous month. 1— In September, 387.4 million tons of crude oil were imported, down 6.8 percent year on year. The spot offshore price of Brent crude was $77.81 per barrel on Sept 30, up 5.9 percent from Aug 31.

The growth rate of natural gas production has slowed. In September, 15.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas was produced, up 7.1 percent year-on-year, 4.2 percentage points lower than the previous month and 15.2 percent higher than the same period in 2019, with a two-year average increase of 7.3 percent, with an average daily output of 520 million cubic meters.

1— In September, 151.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, up 10.4 percent year-on-year and 20.0 percent over the same period in 2019, with a two-year average increase of 9.6 percent.

Natural gas imports maintained rapid growth. In September, 10.62 million tons of natural gas were imported, up 22.7 percent year on year, and the growth rate was 10.5 percentage points higher than the previous month. 1— In September, 89.85 million tons of natural gas were imported, up 22.2 percent year on year.

Electricity production accelerated. In September, 675.1 billion KWH of electricity was generated, up 4.9 percent year on year, 4.7 percentage points faster than the previous month, 10.5 percent higher than the same period in 2019 and a two-year average increase of 5.1 percent, with an average daily power generation of 22.5 billion KWH. 1— In September, 6,072.1 billion KWH of electricity was generated, up 10.7 percent year-on-year and 11.6 percent from the same period in 2019, for a two-year average growth of 5.7 percent.
